EFSB Rejects Power Plant Drinking Water Bid

IN THE NEWS-From www.BrocktonPost.com
BROCKTON--The state Energy Facilities Siting Board upheld its June decision to deny drinking water to a 350-megawatt natural gas power plant proposed for Brockton by a 6-1 vote following a hearing this morning.
In June the Siting Board voted 4-3 to deny the use of drinking water--a split decision Advanced Power officials had hoped could be overturned in its favor.
Instead, the board reaffirmed the vote by a wide majority.
"I was nervous about that," said Eddie Byers, a leader of a grassroots group that opposes the power plant.
He said Advanced Power was right that the June vote was close and is very happy about the new vote, which affirms the denial of the city's drinking water.
BrocktonPost.com will have more on this issue later tonight or tomorrow.
