Schools

I remember going to the Brockton Schools and having an experience that have shaped me into the man that I am today. I ran for School Committe ward three in 2009. I always felt the key to a good sound education is the tools and the lessons I learned from my teachers. Brockton has one of the best high schools in America and we need to ask the teachers what we can do better to serve our students. The teachers, staff and administration are doing something right and we need to listen to them. Today many students face problems that I didn't face when going to school. We have many programs in place that will work with students to keep them in school and to offer them opportunities that I never had. We need to listen to the students and teachers on how to stop school bullying and to provide a safe environment for our students to freely express themselves.
We need to deter students from hanging around the wrong crowd and explore opportunities for students who are truant to keep them in school. I will work with programs that we have in place top provide structure and purpose for students after school. Again part of the solution is offering safety and that falls in line with increasing the school police. The schools have become second home for many students and we as adults can not let them down and must provide a safe environment so they can excel. My commitment is to continue to make Brockton a leader in education by relying on the people who know best, the teachers, administration, staff and students.
