Power Plant

We have a proposed plant were we must outweigh the cons and benefits. I believe the cons outweigh the pro's. I also believe that the money that will be generated by this plant can be found within our budget and revenue accounts. We need to look at the surplus that we have and the money that we are loosing everyday to agreements like the one at Stonehill College that was set up in 1967 and recoup that money and start to utilize it for the infrastructure of Brockton. Stonehill College is charged at the residential water rates even though some of the meters are being used in science labs and other commercial buildings. Some estimates put the figure at up to $500,000 a year and more. This is something that should of been looked at years ago and not when a politician is running for re-election. We can only for so long rely on the State and Federal governments to carry Brockton and must look to our current budget mismanagement and ask our selves are we losing money now because of bad business deals and department heads that have mislead the residents. A power plant is something that is going to create short term jobs and revenue each year but can we really afford not to look at other options first. I believe business will come with out selling out schools and neighborhoods that are close to this plant and backroom deals that were held to seal this deal of a plant where Brockton was looked at as a dumping ground. I am opposed to the power plant being so close to a school and also believe that the plant will do more harm than good in the long run, environmentally and physically.
